AVMU: Freedom of expression is constitutionally guaranteed and inviolable
- The Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services (AVMU) said the freedom of expression is constitutionally guaranteed and as such it is inviolable.Therefore, it added, AVMU joins the reactions regarding the court ruling made by judge Jovanka Spirovska Paneva on the case "Feroinvest v. IRL", involving Investigative Reporting Lab (IRL) journalists for the story "Conspiracy against Air".
Skopje, 12 November 2023 (MIA) - The Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services (AVMU) said the freedom of expression is constitutionally guaranteed and as such it is inviolable.Therefore, it added, AVMU joins the reactions regarding the court ruling made by judge Jovanka Spirovska Paneva on the case "Feroinvest v. IRL", involving Investigative Reporting Lab (IRL) journalists for the story "Conspiracy against Air".
"This freedom can only be limited only in certain, precisely defined cases when public safety and peace, public health, etc. are threatened. Citizens have the right to be objectively, timely and accurately informed about all issues that are of exceptional importance and relate to the public interest, and the realization of this right should be encouraged by all relevant stakeholders in society," says the Agency.
In addition, AVMU points out that the publication of editorial content, in which professional journalistic standards are not violated, which are also broadcast on the public service, is in the direction of realizing the freedom of speech and freedom of information and preserving the interest of citizens.
