Autumn consumer basket and low inflation contribute to better standard of life: PM

Skopje, 5 October 2024 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski says the autumn consumer basket has led to price cuts of certain products by about ten percent, and along with the student basket that reduced prices by 20-30 percent, has ensured savings for citizens.

"We are extremely satisfied from what we are seeing in certain supermarkets, not all of them. We are looking at lower prices as a result of this so-called autumn consumer basket by more than ten percent, especially for grain products," Mickoski told reporters.

The PM added that the so-called student basket has also resulted in a 20-30 percent price drop, which affects the people's standard, along with the August inflation rate of only 2.2 percent.

"A year ago, the inflation rate was 20 percent and this directly impacted the citizens' standard. We now have low prices, the lowest inflation in the region and the best in Europe. We will adopt measures and policies that will continue to bring down inflation. You remember the previous government saying that the inflation was imported, although it was twice higher than the one in EU. Now it is twice lower than in EU member-states," said Mickoski.
