August inflation up 0.5% compared to previous month: statistics

Skopje, 10 September 2024 (MIA) - Inflation measured through the Consumer Price Index in August compared to July was 0.5 percent, said the State Statistical Office on Tuesday.

The increase of inflation is the result of the increase in consumer prices in the following groups: Food and non-alcoholic beverages by 1.2%, Recreation and culture by 1.1%, Health by 0.8%, Restaurants and hotels by 0.7%, Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels by 0.6%, Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance, Communications by 0.5%, Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics by 0.1%.

A decrease in Consumer Price Index was registered in the following groups: Transport by 2.2%, Clothing and footwear, Miscellaneous goods and services by 0.3%.

The Consumer Price Index in the group Education remained at the same level as in the previous month.

Retail prices in August have increased by 0.5 percent compared to the previous month.

Consumer prices in August, compared to the same month in 2023, increased by 2.2 percent, while retail prices increased by three percent.
