At least 9 dead after gas explosion on Russian island
At least nine people have died in a gas explosion in a residential building on the Russian Far East island of Sakhalin. "At least two people are still under the rubble," the island's governor, Valery Limanenko, announced on his Telegram channel on Saturday. He said the search for them was continuing. Seven people have also been hospitalized. The explosion occurred in Tymovskoye, an urban-type settlement in the centre of the island. A complete building entrance of the five-storey building was destroyed. Nine dead bodies, including four children, have been recovered so far during rescue operations. So far, the prosecution is dealing with negligence in the handling of the gas balloons.
