Kiev, 24 August 2024 (dpa/MIA) - At least five people have been killed in a Russian artillery attack on the city of Kostyantynivka in eastern Ukraine, according to the local authorities, who said another five civilians were injured when the shells hit a residential area.

Kostyantynivka is located in the Donetsk region and repeatedly comes under Russian artillery fire as Moscow seeks to claim the area. In September last year, at least 15 people were killed in a rocket attack there.

Russian military forces repeatedly attack Ukrainian cities with rockets, artillery or even aerial bombs, in seemingly arbitrary attacks that have led to a high number of Ukrainian civilian casualties.
