At least 13 killed, 50 injured in fire at Indonesian fuel depot

At least 13 people were killed and 50 others injured when a fire broke out overnight at a fuel depot owned by Indonesia's national energy company Pertamina in Jakarta, an official said Saturday.

The large blaze also destroyed homes near the depot in North Jakarta, said Rahmat Kristantia, the head of the local fire department.

The cause of the fire that broke out late Friday was not immediately clear, according to officials.

Fires at Pertamina facilities are not uncommon.

In 2021, a fire broke out at one of the company's refineries in West Java, displacing more than 1,000 people.
