At least 11 killed in mudslide in central China

Beijing, 28 July 2024 (dpa/MIA) - At least 11 people were killed and six more injured in a mudslide caused by flash flooding in China's central Hunan province, state broadcaster CCTB reported on Saturday morning.

A single-storey residential building in the village of Yuelin was swept away by a landslide caused by heavy rains, according to the report.

According to state news agency Xinhua, one person is believed to be buried under the mud.

Rescue efforts are ongoing.

China is regularly hit by heavy rains and flash floods, particularly during the summer months.
