Skopje, 4 October 2023 (MIA) - Skopje Mayor Danela Arsovska has been elected Chair of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Forum of Mayors held in Geneva, Switzerland, said the City of Skopje on Wednesday.

Mayor of Braga (Portugal), Ricardo Rio and City Leader of Glasgow (United Kingdom), Susan Aitken, have been elected Deputy Chairs.

For the first time as an official body within the UN, it is a great honor that Arsovska was elected chair though a direct vote, at the Forum that is attended by one mayor from every country in the Pan-European region, North America, Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Middle East, reads the press release.

Arsovska and her team will directly participate in the creation of the programme of the UNECE Committee on Urban Development, Housing and Land Management, and the policy creation for local authorities through adoption of declarations. ssh/ik/
