Army to deploy additional troops in fire extinguishing operations

Skopje, 18 July 2024 (MIA) - Considering the needs and demands for an increased engagement in the fire extinguishing operations, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, has decided to deploy additional 200 Army members, said the General Staff on Thursday.

The total number of Army members engaged in the efforts is now 300, who will carry out activities at sites designated by the Crisis Management Center, which is the coordinating authority of all institutions involved.

Up until now, the Army provided 100 members and two Army helicopters in the fire extinguishing operations. In addition, members of the Air Brigade have been coordinating the operations of helicopters from Turkey, Slovenia, Serbia and Montenegro, reads the press release.
