Army marks Air Brigade Day

Skopje, 9 June 2023 (MIA) – The members of the Macedonian Army’s Air Brigade within the Operations Command (OC), marked June 10 – Day of the Unit with a military ceremony Friday at the “Strasho Pindzur” military barracks in Petrovec.

 

The ceremony was addressed by the Chief of Staff of the Operations Command, Brigadier General Mirche Gjorgoski, and the Commander of the Air Brigade, Colonel Igorcho Stoimenovski. 

 

The OC Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Mirche Gjorgoski, congratulated the Day of the Unit by highlighting the professionalism and readiness of the members of the Air Brigade, not only when it comes to combat tasks, but also when it comes to extinguishing fires and other humanitarian missions.

In his address, General Gjorgoski, added that as a full-fledged member of the NATO Alliance, significant funds will be allocated for the modernization and equipping of the Air Brigade with the most sophisticated combat systems and equipment, raising the unit’s combat readiness.

 

The Commander of the Air Brigade, Colonel Igorcho Stoimenovski, voiced gratitude to the current and retired members who have contributed to the development of the unit. In his speech, the Colonel highlighted the importance of the modernization processes as priorities of vital importance for the unit, so that it can fulfill its mission and tasks more successfully.

The attendees at Friday’s ceremony had the chance to see a flyover of F-16 aircraft as part of NATO’s air patrol, as well as a flyover of aircraft of the Macedonian Army’s Air Brigade.

 

The Air Brigade marks June 10, as the day on which the first flight of the newly established Macedonian military Air Brigade took place in 1992.
