Army Chief of Staff Lafchiski attends US – Adriatic Charter conference in Tirana 

Skopje, 18 September 2024 (MIA) - The Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Major General Sashko Lafchiski participated Wednesday in the 27th Conference of Chiefs of Defence of the US-Adriatic Charter (A-5) member countries, held in Tirana.

In his address at the conference, Major General Lafchiski voiced gratitude to the United States for their continued support of the regional initiative. He noted that increased defence spending is essential for the process of modernization and meeting the accepted capability aims within NATO. Regarding the support for Ukraine and solidarity between partners, the General stressed that in addition to protecting democratic values, such actions directly contribute to the stability of the region.

After the conference, the chiefs of defence signed a joint statement reaffirming the commitment to further strengthen and enhance relations and expand military cooperation with the goal of boosting regional security.
