Skopje, 15 July 2025 (MIA) - Five of the nine reported wildfires across the country are still active, in the municipalities of Dojran, Veles, Makedonski Brod, Gazi Baba and Saraj.
Crisis Management Center (CMC) director Muhamed Ali and Protection and Rescue Directorate (PRD) director Stojanche Angelov told a press conference that the fire in Dojran is being extinguished by Valandovo firefighters, two firefighting aircraft and firefighting volunteers from Dojran. The Veles fire is tackled by the town's firefighting unit and 30 Army members, while the Makedonski Brod blaze is put out by local firefighters and Makedonija Pat staff.
Angelov said most of the fires are active in inaccessible areas full of degraded forests and bushes.

"From an environmental standpoint, the damage should not be underestimated but is significantly lower compared to last year," said Angelov.
He added that no fire is currently posing a threat to villages, settlements and other populated places.
"The two firefighting aircraft are currently engaged in the extinguishing of the Dojran fire and we expect it to be under control by the end of the day," noted Angelov.
