Angelov: 20 wildfires, 10 put out, eight active, two under control 

Skopje, 29 July 2024 (MIA) - The head of the Crisis Management Center (CMC), Stojanche Angelov said Monday there were 20 wildfires in the country over the past 24 hours, ten of which have been put out, eight are still active, while two are under control.

Angelov said the situation is changing from minute to minute.

“Today we are leading a fierce battle with the fire in the Municipality of Makedonski Brod which is burning towards the Jasen hunting ground. As support to local firefighters today we have deployed 25 members of the Interior Ministry’s Rapid Deployment Unit, as well as 30 members of the Army. Additionally, three ‘Air Tractor’ firefighting planes were active in the efforts to put out the fire this morning. Unfortunately, the fire has engulfed quality pine forest in some areas,” Angelov said.

According to Angelov there are active fires burning near the village of Glavovica in Kochani; on Ilinska Mountain in the territory of Demir Hisar; near the village of Radobil in Prilep; near the village of Malotino in the Municipality of Staro Nagorichane; near the village of Bratil Dol in Bitola; near Idrizovo in Gazi Baba, as well as near the village of Nikushtak in the Municipality of Lipokovo.
