Andonovski - Stojmenova Duh: Macedonia and Slovenia to cooperate on digitization

Skopje, 2 September 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Digital Transformation Stefan Andonovski met Monday with Slovenian counterpart Emilija Stojmenova Duh in Maribor, discussing cooperation opportunities in the field of digitization.
Minister Andonovski acknowledged Slovenia's achievements in digitization, highlighting Macedonia’s ambitions to not only follow the examples of others, but also develop its own innovative solutions, the Ministry of Digital Transformation said in a press release.
The Minister also presented the main priorities of the newly formed Ministry of Digital Transformation, adding that the Government considers digital transformation as a key priority for the country's development.
The new ministry will work on developing digital skills, improving infrastructure and promoting public digital services. Focus will be put on four main areas: digital economy, education, local access, and digital administration.
Andonovski stressed that digital transformation will improve governance with the aim of increasing efficiency and transparency in the public sector.
Minister Stojmenova Duh expressed Slovenia's readiness to support Macedonia in this process and share positive experiences. She also noted that such support is aligned with EU's policies on Western Balkan countries and accelerating digital transformation, which is necessary to improve services available to citizens.
"Macedonia's goal is to become a digital hub in the region, which will help citizens, strengthen the economy, and improve the country’s reputation internationally," Andonovski stressed.
According to the press release, both ministers agreed to strengthen cooperation in the future. ssh/ik/
