Analysis: 63.5% of internet users made online orders in 2024

Skopje, 26 December 2024 (MIA) - An analysis of the Macedonian E-Commerce Association using State Statistical Office data shows that 63.5 percent of internet users ordered/purchased commodities or services over the internet in 2024, up from the 53.5 percent in 2023.

According to the analysis, citizens mostly bought clothes, including sports apparel, shoes or accessories such as bags or jewelry.

The association says that 90.2 percent of households had internet access, compared to last year's 88 percent, whereas 91.2 percent of Macedonians aged 15-74 used internet, up from the 85.3 percent in 2023.

Internet was broadly used for calls, social media and instant messaging, with 94.6 percent using internet for calls/video calls (webcam, Skype, Facetime), an increase compared to the 89.2 percent in 2023; 87.6 percent used instant messages (Messenger, WhatsApp, Viber) compared to 75.2 percent in 2023; 84.2 percent used social networks (Facebook, Instagram, X), up from last year's 76.9 percent.

In addition, use of internet banking has also increased to 40 percent from the 32.8 percent in 2023.
