All eight injured in German knife attack expected to survive

Dusseldorf, 28 August 2024 (dpa/MIA) - German authorities on Wednesday said all eight people injured in last week's deadly knife attack in the western city of Solingen are expected to survive.

Herbert Reul, the interior minister for the state of North Rhine Westphalia, said the injured victims would recover.

Three people were killed in the attack in Solingen on Friday, reigniting debates about immigration policies and deportations in Germany. The suspected perpetrator has been identified as Issa al-H under German privacy laws, a 26-year-old Syrian who has been remanded in custody.

The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating him for murder and on suspicion of membership of the Islamic State terror group.
