Skopje, 7 May 2023 (MIA) - Minister of Information Society and Administration Azir Aliu says the final position on the initiative to ban social network TikTok in the country would come after coordinated activities with judicial, education and security authorities.
Minister Aliu expresses deep regret and condolences to the families of victims and the citizens of Serbia, saying they support the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science over evaluation of the risks posed by all social platforms.
"Censorship is regulated by the Constitution and a final position on such measure can follow only after coordinated activities with judicial, education and security authorities in the country. Therefore, we support the education ministry's initiative for evaluation of the risks posed by all social platforms. The Ministry of Information Society and Administration is against any form of hate speech or violence, without exceptions, and supports its sanctioning," Aliu says in a statement.
The ministry urges for increased awareness regarding social platforms by school staff and parents. In addition, NGOs, state institutions, TV and radio broadcasters are expected to produce educational content and fill in the gaps at social platforms with positive messages.
