AJM, OSCE Mission: Cooperation in promoting journalism

Skopje, 1 February 2024 (MIA) - The Association of Journalists of Macedonia (AJM) hosted Thursday Ambassador and Head of the OSCE Mission to Skopje, Kilian Wahl and his team to celebrate their continuous cooperation that significantly contributes to the improvement of media freedom in the region.

AJM said that the meeting focused on the successful realization of a summer camp for young journalists.

This platform is a great way for young journalists to acquire additional professional development and opportunity to share knowledge and inter-editorial collaboration. Both organizations believe that the camp will motivate and inspire young people to continue their professional journalistic development, reads the press release.

Interlocutors discussed the need for a fund to support media pluralism, an idea initiated by AJM that aims to ensure equal access to resources for all media and journalists and complement the media landscape. The fund would be an instrument for promoting a balanced media environment, and supporting different content and narratives.

AJM's effort is a clear indicator of its commitment to create a diverse and free media sphere and ensure its recognition and support from MPs and authorities. The focus of our meetings will be to improve media freedom and the safety of journalists and media workers, which is of crucial importance for an open and diverse media sector, adds the press release.

This cooperation, AJM stressed, continues to be key in shaping a more informed and more inclusive journalistic landscape in the region, encouraging growth and variety in the media industry.
