Amsterdam, 3 June 2023 (dpa/MIA) - Ajax Amsterdam are looking for a new coach after interim boss John Heitinga was let go.

Heitinga, 39, had succeeded former Hoffenheim coach Alfred Schreuder at the end of January but Ajax still finished third in the Dutch top flight and missed out on qualification for the Champions League.

"I am of the opinion that Ajax now need a more experienced coach," sporting director Sven Mislintat said in a statement.

"That is of great importance given the situation we are in and to make Ajax more successful again after last season."
