Aggeler: One or two names to be added to sanctions ‘black list’ in the next couple of months

Aggeler: One or two names to be added to sanctions ‘black list’ in the next couple of months

Skopje, 8 March 2023 (MIA) – There are several types of sanctions that the U.S. is introducing. I believe that in the next couple of months we will see one or two names on the list and this will be a process that will continue, said the U.S. Ambassador to North Macedonia, Angela Aggelar in answer to a journalist’s question about the U.S. “black list” on Wednesday.

Aggeler said that there is no single list, but there are several lists that are being drafted and constantly updated in Washington.

“These are very dynamic lists. This is a continuous process, because corruption happens every day in its many forms. There are people who should be investigated, and because the system in Washington is especially legally cautious, it requires time and investigation of the alleged crime, to ensure that we don’t add someone to a list that they don’t belong to. I believe that in the next couple of months we will see one or two names and this will be a process that will continue, said U.S. Ambassador to North Macedonia, Angela Aggelar.

According to Aggeler, this is a never-ending process and the U.S. Embassy is constantly in touch with Washington over the issue.

“There are several types of sanctions that the U.S. is introducing. Some are financial and can be especially efficient, while others are related to visas and other legal mechanisms,” said Aggeler.

All types of sanctions are being reviewed in Washington, said Aggeler, and a single person could receive multiple types of sanctions. ad/nn/
