Administrative Court accepts suit filed by Besa, no revote in Zhelino

Administrative Court accepts suit filed by Besa, no revote in Zhelino
Skopje, 8 November 2021 (MIA) – The Administrative Court on Monday accepted the suit filed by Besa over revote in a polling station in the municipality of Zhelino, the Court told MIA. In line with the decision, a revote won’t be held, i.e. Besa’s candidate Blerim Sejdi is elected mayor of the municipality. The decision confirming the results from the second round of voting in Zhelino has been reached by the Council of the Court. The State Election Commission (SEC) on Thursday decided that a polling station in the municipality of Zhelino should organize a revote following a complaint filed by DUI. Besa’s candidate defeated DUI’s rival to become mayor of the municipality in the October local elections. However, after the SEC’s decision, Besa filed a suit to the Administrative Court. In addition, Besa secretary general Arjanit Hoxha on Friday said coalition partner DUI has “stabbed them in the back with the complaint filed over Zhelino”, which brought the ruling coalition into question. Earlier last week, following a meeting with Prime Minister Zoran Zaev in the Government, Hoxha said Besa remains in the ruling coalition. However, it later decided to join the opposition’s motion for forming new parliamentary majority.
