Ademi: No formal notice that Mexhiti and Koxhaxhiku have left DUI’s parliamentary group

Skopje, 21 July 2023 (MIA) – DUI’s party whip and MP, Arber Ademi told TV 21 on Friday that formally the party still has 15 MPs because Izet Mexhiti and Merita Kolçi-Koxhaxhiku still have not sent a notice stating they are leaving the party’s parliamentary group.

“Our parliamentary group had 15 MPs, but it formally still does, since, as a whip, I still have not received a formal notice over a split from the parliamentary group. So far, I haven’t received any notices that the parliamentary group has decreased or grown in number,” said Ademi.

Ademi said the party first found out about Izet Mexhiti’s departure, and the announced establishment of a new political movement, from the media. The DUI party whip said he regrets Mexhiti’s decision, and added that DUI and Ahmeti have treated Mexhiti well.

“We were informed about the new political orientation from the media, in this case I would like to stress that it concerns important individuals who held high political and partisan posts, and were treated very well in DUI,” said Ademi.

As a political entity, said Ademi, DUI does not fear Izet Mexhiti’s new political movement.

“To tell you the truth, no, since DUI is a well-organized, established political organization, which has been through similar processes several times,” said Ademi.

Regarding the constitutional amendments, DUI’s party whip said they haven’t held one-on-one talks with the opposition MPs, and added it isn’t good to come up with conditions.
