Additional two-denar support provided for winegrowers

Additional two-denar support provided for winegrowers
Skopje, 26 August 2022 (MIA) - Winegrowers will receive additional two denars in support after handing over grapes to registered capacities, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy Ljupcho Nikolovski said Friday. This was agreed at today's meeting with winegrowers and officials of wineries with Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski in attendance. "This decision suggests that two denars per each kilogram of purchased wine grapes are added to the record high purchase prices. Thus, the price of Smederevka is 15 denars and 17 denars is Vranec. Adding the subsidies in amount of 40,000 denars for vineyard management, the agreed price of grapes is 18 denars for Smederevka and 20 denars for Vranec," said Nikolovski. In addition to this, added the Minister, a new measure for green oil in amount of 4,300 denars per hectare is also introduced. "This constitutes a serious support of the sector," he noted. Winegrowers and winemakers thanked the government for the support that has been agreed. "This has been a difficult year for winegrowers and winemakers as wine consumption is dropping and prices of raw materials are rising, which creates a disbalance. I extend great gratitude that a compromise has been found between winegrowers and winemakers on one side and the Agriculture Ministry on the other. Stocks are huge and the struggle to sell products on European and world markets will be hard," stated Riste Ljubotenski, a representative of wineries. According to the winegrower Trajche Kulev, growers expected more support, saying that they are still satisfied with the two-denar support. "The Smederevka price being 15 denars and the Vranec being 17 denars will soften the blow. Four million euros from the budget will be singled our for the additional two denars, which is no small amount," said Kulev. https://youtu.be/zGlRWNNXnUE
