Gostivar, 25 October 2021 (MIA) – Alliance of Albanians (AA) vice-president Arben Taravari said Monday the party would support the mayoral candidates of Besa in the runoff of the local elections while welcoming their reciprocal move. “Right after the results of the first round were announced, our coalition said all candidates of the Albanian opposition fighting against DUI should unify,” Taravari told a press conference. Taravari, the incumbent Gostivar Mayor, is running for a second term and faced DUI candidate and former Gostivar Mayor Nevzat Bejta in the October 31 runoff. “We believe that DUI should be toppled and hope that Besa aims to detach itself from the evil. This is possible only by fully removing DUI from power and creating a new parliamentary majority,” added Taravari. Earlier, Besa secretary-general Arjanit Hoxha urged their voters on Monday to support the Alliance for Albanians (AA) candidates for mayors at the October 31 runoff and “help in DUI and DPA’s political defeat”.
