AA joining gov't wasn't discussed with PM, says Taravari
Skopje, 18 November 2022 (MIA) - Alliance for Albanians leader Arben Taravari said after his meeting with Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski on Friday that it didn't include talks on his party joining the government coalition. "After electing a party president, we will discuss it," stated Taravari, who is the acting president of the Alliance for Albanians. "We discussed the European path, the fight against corruption, rule of law, the EU-flagged laws blocked in Parliament, which have been always supported by the Alliance for Albanians," he told reporters adding that at the moment there is "neither an official nor unofficial offer" for his party to join the government. Denying his party has been offered several ministerial posts once the Alliance for Albanians enters the government, Taravari said the party has conditions in case negotiations start. "We have red lines. We've said that as opposition party we will present them to the public. They will be our condition to join the government," stated the party leader. Taravari also said his party is in communication with all other parties, including VMRO-DPMNE. "However, we don't like the vocabulary VMRO-DPMNE has been using recently. I think it limits their capacity for cooperation with the all the Albanian parties. I have the impression that VMRO-DPMNE is competing with Levica as to who is more nationalistic," he stated. Speaking to reporters, the party leader said he would continue criticizing the government regardless of eventually being in the ruling coalition or not.
