49th Youth Open Theater opens in Skopje

49th Youth Open Theater opens in Skopje

Skopje, 15 November 2024 (MIA) – The 49th edition of the Youth Open Theater, an international theatre festival, opens Friday at Skopje’s Youth Cultural Center (MKC) with Ernst Toller’s Hinkemann, an independent production by „Golden Yelets” Theater and directed by Tamara Stojanoska.

“The anti-war theme dominating in their play also heralds the motto of this year’s MOT. At a time when the world is facing two wars, MOT’s program voices its activism focused on topics that set the world on fire, which don’t get much attention in our society,” said organizer Ruse Arsov.

While the world is burning, Arsov said, locally, we’re fighting a war for MOT, because the 49th edition of the festival is organized with a tiny budget and is the result of the solidarity of MOT’s global network.

Theater productions from France, Serbia, Slovenia, Ukraine and Greece and a Bulgarian-Macedonian co-production will feature in the annual festival, which closes on November 21.
