35 migrants injured in Gevgelija-Demir Kapija road accident
Strumica/Gevgelija, 11 August 2022 (MIA) – Thirty-five migrants were injured in a road traffic accident that happened on the Gevgelija-Demir Kapija highway on Wednesday, after a Scania truck with Skopje licence plates, which carried the migrants, skidded of the road. There were 49 migrants in the truck.   According to Strumica police station spokesperson Aleksandra Trajanova, one of the migrants has suffered severe injury, and the rest had minor injuries.   “According to the migrants, they are all from Syria. Some had travel documents with them, and some didn’t. A truck was reported to have skidded off the road at the junction from the Marvinci village to the M1, Gevgelija-Demir Kapija road yesterday at 6:10 pm. The driver has fled and the migrants were found at the scene of the accident,” Trajanova said.   The injured were transported to the hospitals in Gevgelija and Strumica. One was kept for treatment in Gevgelija and another one was sent for further treatment at the Skopje-based Clinical Center.   Photo: MIA archive
