Kiev, 29 June 2023 (dpa/MIA) - Tens of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers have already received combat training in EU states, according to information from Kiev on Wednesday.

"A total of 24,000 Ukrainian soldiers have already been trained in the EU," said Lieutenant General Serhiy Nayev, according to a statement from the Defence Ministry.

Following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine more than 16 months ago, several members of the European Union began training Ukrainian soldiers in an effort to help them repel Russian aggressors.

Thousands more Ukrainians have also been sent abroad for military training outside the EU, such as in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Norway.

Ukraine's soldiers are being trained in Western weapons systems and modern military tactics, to enable them to use Western weapon deliveries and to better equip them to win the war against Russia.
