Struga, 19 August 2021 (MIA) — British poet Carol Ann Duffy, the winner of the 60th Struga Poetry Evenings' main prize, the Golden Wreath, will appear by videolink during the poetry festival that will welcome more than 30 local and foreign poets in person from Aug. 26 to 30 and will be streamed online for the third year in a row.
According to MIA's Struga correspondent, invitees unable to attend the festival in person will also read their poems via videolink.
This year's festival will host in memoriam readings to Macedonian poets Ante Popovski and Bogomil Gjuzel as well as a book launch for "A Selection of Blazhe Koneski's Poetry and Short Fiction," published to commemorate Koneski's birth centenary with support from the state.
The festival will be held in line with Covid-19 protocols, with the opening and closing of the SPE taking place on the patio of Struga's Drim Hotel.
As is tradition, morning panel discussions will be held at the hotel's conference hall, and evening poetry readings will take place in front of the Brakja Miladinovci Cultural Center.
The audience is limited. Every audience member over 18 years of age will need to show proof of Covid-19 vaccination or recovery or a negative PCR test, organizers say.
To reach a larger audience, they add, the festival has been streamed online on the SPE YouTube channel since 2019. mr/
