Skopje, 30 September 2021 (MIA) - The 2021 Population and Housing Census in North Macedonia, which started on Sept. 5, has officially ended Thursday evening. The first national head count in nearly 20 years, lasted 26 days from Sept. 5 to Sept. 30, 2021. In the next few days, the State Statistical Office (SSO) should make the final checks and summarizing of the data, as well as technical activities related to census takers. The SSO is to publish the official results of the census in six months at latest or by the end of March 2022. The 2021 head count was conducted under health and safety protocols during COVID-19 pandemic in line with a new Eurostat methodology. The 2021 census was based on a combined model, in which some information was taken from population registers and other information was collected through field work.
