1,078 local and 770 foreign observers accredited to monitor May 8 elections

Skopje, 4 May 2024 (MIA) - A total of 1,999 observers, translators and foreign reporters have been accredited for the second round of the presidential elections and the parliamentary elections on May 8. 

The elections will be monitored by 1,078 local observers, mostly from association "Wake Up" (752). Also accredited are 770 foreign observers and 85 translators, most of whom from OSCE/ODIHR - 410 observers, 14 experts and 31 translators.  

The other accredited monitors include Civil-Center for Freedom, Inkluziva-Kumanovo, Foundation Roma for Democracy, Center for Security Research, Ohrid Institute for Economic Strategies and International Affairs, National Roma Center Kumanovo, Macedonian Center for Cultural Development, OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA), Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), U.S. Embassy in Skopje, Silba Initiative for Dialogue and Democracy, Central Election Commission - Republic of Kosovo, European Parliament, etc.

The elections will be covered by 66 foreign reporters, including media from neighboring countries, as well as those from Reuters, Agence France-Presse, Al Jazeera, and others.   

The first round of the presidential elections held on April 24 was monitored by 915 local and 544 foreign observers, as well as 84 translators and 58 foreign journalists.
