‘Worth It’ coalition ends campaign with rally in Tetovo, leaders expect to dethrone gov’t

Tetovo, 6 May 2024 (MIA) - The "Worth It" opposition coalition of parties of ethnic Albanians held its final rally Monday in Tetovo ahead of the parliamentary elections on May 8. The leaders of the parties in the coalition said they expect to receive the support of the citizens in order to change the current government.

Besa Movement leader Bilall Kasami said the government will be punished on May 8 for its bad governance.

"It is our duty to punish the government for its bad governance. That's why I want to send a message to all public administration workers and those who have served the Albanians with honesty, come out and vote on May 8 for the change that is worth it. Don't be afraid of the threats by DUI's police, by their ministers and officials, because on May 9 they will be held responsible for all those threats. Together, we decisively brought about change in the municipalities, and on May 8 we will also do this on the central level. The future belongs to the Worth It coalition. The Worth It coalition will inevitably be part of the government, as a guarantor of the rights and progress of the Albanians," Kasami stated.

Arben Taravari, who was the coalition's presidential candidate but failed to make it to the second round, pledged to work harder as part of the central government.

"I pledge publicly that when we form the government soon, we will work even harder, we won't sit in our armchairs, but we will work for you who opened your doors to us when we weren't even knocking. I received an offer from Ali Ahmeti, but I refused it and chose to be with you, and I am proud I made that choice," Taravari said.

Alternativa leader Afrim Gashi said the coalition won't mislead anyone.

"I stand before you with a clean conscience. I heard your calls and that's why I extended a hand to Bilall, Taravari, Izet. Now that we are together, there is no excuse for us not to move forward," Gashi said.

Democratic Movement's Izet Mexhiti said not a single victory is possible without the diaspora’s seal.

“Tonight I will ask Ali Ahmeti if he ever wondered why the best people left his party, and left him alone with Artan and his destructive ideas? Have you ever wondered what happened to DUI? That party, which we all built, used to be emancipated and progressive,” Mexhiti stressed at the rally in Tetovo.
