Skopje, 1 January 2025 (MIA) - Eighteen patients were treated at the Skopje-based Toxicology Clinic on New Year's Eve, the youngest aged 14. In general, New Year's Eve was calm.

"New Year's Eve was rather calm at the Toxicology Cilinic, with 18 patients treated for alcohol poisoning. The youngest patient was aged 14 and the oldest was 38," said clinic director Andon Chibishev.

He added that all patients have been released for home treatment.

University Clinic for Surgical Diseases director Nebojsha Nastov, 81 patients were treated overnight, five of whom as a result of traffic accidents and three for injuries from fights.

According to Urgent Center director Igor Merdzhanovski, the number of treated patients compared to previous years has dropped by 30 percent.

"The hospital staff treated 35 patients, nine of whom for traffic accident-related injuries and two resulting from fights. A 13-year-old child received severe arm injuries from firecrackers. A foreign national was also treated for head injuries and later released," said Merdzhanovski.
