Ton of cannabis seized from Green Life, one of six companies that had their licenses revoked

Skopje, 24 February 2026 (MIA) — A ton of cannabis has been seized from a Green Life company warehouse in the Valandovo village of Josifovo. Green Life is one of the six companies that had their licenses for growing medical cannabis revoked, the Ministry of Interior confirmed to MIA.

The cannabis was seized by police officers from the Strumica Police Department and the Valandovo Police Department earlier Tuesday after they carried out a search of the premises on an order from the Gevgelija Public Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Interior said.

The police operation was part of the law enforcement authorities' sustained efforts to crackdown on the illegal drug trade, it said.

Earlier Tuesday, Minister of Health Azir Aliu told a press conference that licenses for growing medical cannabis had been revoked from six companies due to multiple irregularities.

Aliu said Alphapharm, which had been involved in marijuana smuggling to Serbia, as well as Green Life, CBD Medplant, Life Plant, Atapharm and Cannabinoids all had their licenses revoked.

Inspectors found that the companies did not store the cannabis flower properly, did not report consistently to the authorities and failed to submit complete documentation regarding sales, the health minister said. mr/
