Skopje, 29 December 2024 (MIA) - National campaign "Supporting Foster Families", implemented through the "VERO for You" platform in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Policy, Demography and Youth, was launched by handing out 150 New Year's packets to children from foster families in the VERO Center on Sunday.

Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Demography and Youth Gjoko Velkovski said the initiative showed that together "we can make a difference and bring joy and warmth during the holidays".

"Foster families provide more than a home, they are a source of love and stability for children facing life challenges. At the same time, centers for persons with disabilities are places where these individuals get support, care and possibilities to develop their skills," said Velkovski.

According to him, over 320 children are cared for in about 230 foster families nationwide.   

VERO manager Petar Denkovski said it was an honor and pleasure to be part of the campaign to support foster families.

"Holidays are a time for love, hope and giving. Foster families and centers for persons with disabilities are the real heroes in our society. This campaign is an opportunity to support them and bring smiles to the faces of the children under their care. It is not only about the gifts but about creating moments of unity and joy, and a reminder that we are all part of the same community," noted Denkovski.

The campaign aims to recognize foster families and centers for persons with disabilities, as well as provide assistance and change the lives of children in need.
